Warrington Museum provides a rich and unique learning environment! Learning is different out of the classroom and our varied collections provide the stimulus to inspire work across the curriculum. Our service brings "learning to life" by enabling children to handle and explore interesting artefacts.
We offer a programme of taught sessions, which reflects most areas of the curriculum and supports all Key Stages from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2. Many teachers from Key Stage 3 and above have utilised the resources of the museum for their own self –guided groups.
Museum Sessions for Foundation Stage
For Foundation Stage pupils in maintained settings we offer the following sessions lasting one and a half-hours:
Museum Sessions for Key Stage 1
Toys from the Past
Play with traditional wooden toys, make a traditional toy and have a look at our nursery corner display crammed with delightful toys such as a rocking horse. Compare old and new toys such as teddy bears, moneyboxes and dolls.

Fascinating Forces
A focused study of tin toys and wooden toys where the science of forces and movement are explored. There is the option of handling our wonderful collection of rod, string and shadow puppets from Asia.
