Engraving of Warrington Museum, 1864 | | | Since its foundation in 1848, with 2,745 specimens from the local Natural History Society, Warrington Museum and Art Gallery's collection has steadily grown. At present the Museum's collections have grown in excess of 200,000 objects covering natural sciences, antiquities, social history, numismatics, ethnology, fine and decorative arts and an extensive local photographic archive. Some of the items are undoubtedly of national significance, but the majority relate to Warrington and the surrounding areas.
