The museum's collection was originally based upon the collection of the Warrington Natural History Society but it has since grown in excess of 200,000 objects, covering natural sciences, antiquities, social history, numismatics, ethnology, fine and decorative arts and an extensive local photographic archive. Some of the items are undoubtedly of national significance, but the majority relate to Warrington and the surrounding areas.
